Summer League Diving
The Greater Cincinnati
/ Northern Kentucky area has been
a hot-bed of diving talent for decades.
Some of the top divers in the United
States - and ultimately the world,
began their diving careers at a local
summer swim club.
Divers such as World
Champions Pat Evans (Eastgate Swim
Club, 1996 Olympian Becky Ruehl (Five
Seasons C.C.), National Junior Olympic,
High School State, and NCAA Champion
Dean Panaro (Reading Aquatic Club),
Junior World, NCAA and Senior National
Champion Kim Fugett, National Junior
Olympic and Senior National Champion
Lori Rizzuto (Blue Ash YMCA), Senior
National Champion Angie Trostel (Oxford
Swim Club), 1980 Olympian Barbie Weinstein
(Jewish Community Center), Junior
World and Senior National Champion
Mike Gruber (Indian Hill Club) began
their careers in summer league diving.
The history is long, the tradition
is deep, and the memories and friendships
created last forever. In the Greater
Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky area,
there are at least SIX leagues encompassing
nearly 50 different swim clubs and
more than 1500 divers.
The Summer League Swimming and Diving
Season begins in early June and runs
until the end of July. Diving meets
take place on weekdays in the late
afternoon or early evening, and while
most diving teams practice in the
mornings, many do practice in the
evenings. The majority of summer league
diving in our area takes place on
the one-meter springboard, but some
leagues (NKSL and Country Club League)
sponsor three-meter diving as well.
The teams have dual meets –
usually once a week, and the season
ends with a League Champ Meet.

League Champ Meet and need help finding
